Neurotrophic Factors

Neurotrophic Factors #
- NOT neurotrophins.
- Usually peptides/small proteins, and usually through RTK: promote growth/survival/differentation of Neurons.
- They block apoptosis-triggering processes.
- Seems to be quite esoteric whow they’re even synthesized and transported.
- Neurotrophins:
- GDNF (Glial cell-line derived):
- Artemin
- Neurturin
- Persephin
- CNTF (ciliary neurotrophic factor):
- LIF
- IL-6
- Prolactin
- Growth Hormone
- Leptin
- Interferon
- Oncostatin M
- EGF/TGF
- TGF-β/α, EGF
- There are also numerous proteins wit ‘EGF-like domains’
- Ephrins
- VGF (not even an acronym).
- Other random stuff like IGF-1, VEGF, FGF15, PDGF, IL-1,2,3,5,8, neurotractin, glia maturation factor
- CDNF
- MANF
