Boron #
Supposedly it boosts Testosterone, DHT, lowers estrogen, potentiates mg/calc/D/K benefits including widening bonez Too high dose = joint pain.
-
Several effects of boron are induced by uncoupling steroid hormones from their transporters in blood
- This transporter being particular focus SHBG.
-
Nothing Boring About Boron
- Essential for osteogenesis
- Greatly improves wound healing
- Boosts Magnesium absorption
- Reduces hs-C-Reactive Protein, TNF-α
- Raises levels of antioxidant enzymes including Glutathione Peroxidase
- In elders, improves brain electrical activity, cognitive performance, and short-term memory
- Protects against pestidcide-induced oxidative stress and heavy metal toxicity
- Inlfuences formation of SAM-e and NAD+
- 6mg/d for 1 week in 8 healthy males:
- saw increase in free Testosterone from 11.83pg/mL to 15.18, and a decrease in Estradiol from 42.33pg/mL to 25.81, and great decreases in inflammatory markers, and slightly increrase in DHT, cortisol, and vitamin D.
- Supplementation with 10 mg B/d for 4 wk resulted in 84% of the supplemented dose being recovered in the urine. Plasma estradiol concentrations increased significantly as a result of supplementation (51.9±21.4 to 73.9±22.2 pmol/L;p<0.004) and there was a trend for plasma testosterone levels to be increased. R

-
Breakfast boron capsule boosts testosterone used borax.
- If men take 10 mg boron every day for a week with their breakfast, their free testosterone levels rise by almost thirty percent and their estradiol goes down by forty percent.
- Will powers.
Supplementation #
- Borax is 11% boron by weight, so just take 30mg or so (aka a bit over 1/64 tsp (1 drop))
- Some formulations come with Riboflavin since it facilitates boron’s absorption. Like 3-9-18 mg.
- This is my understanding. Boron binds to SHBG, leaving less available to bind testosterone and estrogen, thus increasing their free levels. After a week or two the body seeks homeostasis and starts producing more SHBG to compensate. However, because SHBG has higher affinity for testosterone, this tends to reduce free T first while leaving estrogen relatively higher. Stopping the boron after homeostasis has been reestablished will create a flood of SHBG, crashing the free levels of both.
- (It does not affect SHBG levels - it may even increase)
- So maybe like 2 weeks on, 1 week off?
- Many populations where it’s ubiquitous in soil, such that some may get 30mg a day? Random comment I read. 13mg as a safe upper limit.
