In drinking water, it increases the uptake of Aluminum. In the US drinking water, it is not in the form of sodium fluoride, but silicofluoride, which can lead to lead accumulation. Fortunately, a good amount of it in the bloodstream is excreted by the kidneys before making it systemically.
