Prostaglandin

Prostaglandin #
- Mostly produced from Arachidonic Acid, but EPA products PGE3.
- Lipid compounds with hormone-like effects. One of their principal actions is Vasodilation, and inhibiting Platelet aggregation.
PGE2 is positively correlated with Hair growth. and aromatase R; PGD2 negatively correlated R https://raypeatforum.com/community/threads/mpb-treatment-apirin-and-castor-oil-combo.35562/post-544895

PGD2 accumulates in the scalp in MPB and is produced by/activates mast cells YT

Following the thread, someone said Danny Roddy isn’t a fan of growing hair via prostaglandin.

Prostaglandins stimulate calcium-dependent glutamate release in astrocytes
- Pharmacological inhibition of Prostaglandin synthesis prevents Glutamate release, and prostaglandins, in particular PGE2 mimics and occludes the releasing action of Glutamate receptor agonists.
- Our results reveal a new pathway of regulated transmitter release from astrocytes and outline the existence of an integrated glutamatergic cross-talk between neurons and astrocytes in situ that may play critical roles in synaptic plasticity and in neurotoxicity.

Inhibits mGluR2, activates AMPAR, and potently induces NGF+BDNF. Lowers tonic glutamate, but increases phasic release/responsiveness
