D-Serine #
- An even more potent agonist of the Glycine site (NR1) of NMDAR, it (or glycine) coactivates with glutamate at the NMDAR which is required for it to open. R
- Weak AMPAR antagonist!
- High CSF levels in Alzheimer’s patients. R

- Anxiolytic; basic explanation being that it enhances fear extinction.
-
D-Serine produces antidepressant-like effects in mice through suppression of BDNF signaling pathway and regulation of synaptic adaptations in the nucleus accumbens
- Increases BDNF in the hippocampus - but restrains the BDNF pathway in the Nucleus Accumbens.
- BDNF signaling inhibitor (K252a) enhanced the antidepressant effects of D-serine.
- D-serine facilitates the effects of extinction to reduce cocaine-primed reinstatement of drug-seeking behavior
- D-serine, a selective glycine/N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor agonist, antagonizes the antidepressant-like effects of magnesium and zinc in mice

Chronic d-serine supplementation impairs insulin secretion==
- SSA: Studies showing insulin issues only happened at higher than used doses and I don’t think they were in humans either, if you actually read the human studies nothing of the sort occurred. I think you drew a false conclusion to an unrelated health issue you seem to have.
- Metabolized via DAAO (D-amino acid oxidase) into pyruvate, Ammonium, and Hydrogen Peroxide, leading to kidney damage (where DAAO is highly expressed)
- Anti-biotic. Anecdotes of it making people poop. Uxkull says oral administration probably kills certain microbes that contribute to sugar metabolism.
-
Dopaminergic neuromodulation of prefrontal cortex activity requires the NMDA receptor coagonist d-serine
- Reduces impulsivity.
Supplementation #
- 4g once or twice a day.
