CXXC5 (CXXC-type Zinc finger protein 5) #

  • Transcription factor in nuclei involved in myelopoiesis, endothelial differentiation, vessel formation, Oligodendrocyte differentiation, cell proliferation, apoptosis.

    • Overall it activates many pathways, including TGF-β.
  • Negative feedback regulator of the WNT pathway, thus overexpression is implicated in Hair Loss, osteoporosis, etc.

  • Participates in Estradiol-driven cellular proliferation by modulating the expression of distinct and mutual genes also regulated by E2. Overexpression of CXXC5, which correlates with mRNA and protein levels of ERα, associates with poor prognosis in ER-positive breast cancer patients. R
