Thyroid #
The gland is part of the Endocrine System, and receptors can be found on almost every body cell. When diagnosing thyroid status, individual measurements of pulse and temperature aren’t as significant as the two together.
- Stimulates oxygen consumption and thus CO2 production
- It also stimulates the production of ATP. The measurement of CO2 production relative to oxygen consumption is a great indicator of thyroid hormone activity. So, when T3 is metabolically active, lactate won’t be produced unnecessarily.
- Having a good thyroid can make you want an afternoon nap?
- Thyroid regulates sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, creatinine, albium, glucose, amongst other components of the serum.

- Increases Estrogen turnover - if nutrition is not optimal (lack of B1, B2, protein, etc.) a person can experience estrogen buildup.

Thyroid - hormone effects on steroid - hormone metabolism.
- Hyperthyroidism simultaneously increases the production and turnover rate of cortisol and aldosterone. T and DHT are increased but their clearance rate is decreased.
