Stearic Acid (C18) #
Promotes mitochondrial fusion.
- PPAR-α agonist.
- Stearic acid unlike shorter-chain saturated fatty acids is poorly utilized for triacylglycerol synthesis and beta-oxidation in cultured rat hepatocytes
- Facilitates Mitochondrial Fusion.

- [Dietary stearic acid regulates mitochondria in vivo in humans]
- The authors say stearoylation of TfR1 is somehow involved in signaling pathways that affect fusion.

A stearic acid-rich diet improves thrombogenic and atherogenic risk factor profiles in healthy males
- 6.6% of calories as stearic acid, and 7.8% as palmitic. Platelet phospholipid stearic acid increased 22%, and palmitic acid levels +8%.
Pure Powder #

- People say this is very fine and powderized, rather than flaky/beady and waxy.
- https://organic-creations.com/product/stearic-acid/ Definitely cheaper than fireinabottle, ngl. Derived from palm oil. They don’t explicitly state it’s food grade.
-
https://www.smartlabscompany.com/products/organic-stearic-acid $9 for 8oz (226g) and vegan
- So if you’re doing 20g/day that’s $0.8 daily
- Powder smells like crayons/candles or something. No taste though.
- Then there’s also transdermal application to bypass SCD https://raypeatforum.com/community/threads/topical-stearic-acid-is-metabolized-into-longer-chain-sfa.22833/, so Olive continues to prove he was dialed in as fuck
- Hard to digest in large quantities. Risk of colitis.
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingual_lipase?useskin=vector swishing it around and mindfully eating it could help…
- 3 teaspoons and 20g chocolate is enough to feel like I have an inflamed intestine almost 24/7. Soo at this point I have a huge supply, clearly. Maybe a teaspoon here and there if it doesn’t effect me and whatnot, and I’ll get through it in less than a year and upgrade to GMS.
- Could emulsify it in coconut oil, or homemade Chocolate.
- I’d like something that would work in smoothies though. I guess coconut oil works, though. Maybe coconut cream? The MCTs would work fine as a quick energy source I suppose. Though I probably don’t want >10g or so in a preworkout shake
- Indeed, it doesn’t need to melt per se, just emulsify.
- Glycerol monostearate. Slightly water soluble; it’s an actual emulsifier as is. Popular bodybuilding supplement sold by Nuvia, Bulksupplements, etc.

- Glycerol makes up 25% the molecular weight (92g/mol of 358 g/mol).

The absorption of stearic acid from triacylglycerols: an inquiry and analysis
- According to this study, stearic acid in cocoa butter is 89-95% absorb-able, while stearic acid from tristearin is 15% absorb-able. The fireinabottle stearic acid is mainly tristearin. The cocoa butter stearic acid is mainly stearoyl. https://old.reddit.com/r/SaturatedFat/comments/pm9t0t/my_experience_with_stearic_acid/
