Serine/threonine Kinase #

Phosphorylates the hydroxyl of Serine OR Threonine residues off a peptide. Kinases can phosphorylate residues that are embedded within ‘phosphorylation consensus sequences’ of amino acids.

  • Many have a regulatory (R) and catalytic (C) domain (I believe all R/C domains are on the C/N terminus respectively, but this is not the case with all kinases: the opposite is true for RTKs.), whereby something binds to R for activation, and the C group is where phosphorylation takes place.
