ATP Hydrolysis #

A catabolic reaction by which the phosphoanhydride bonds in ATP are split by producing work in the form of mechanical energy, such as in Muscle, producing ADP + 1 Pi. ADP can be further hydrolyzed into AMP. See a pattern? This is how the stored energy in ATP is actually consumed and used.
