• Ryanodine receptors are a class of intracellular calcium channels.
• Mediators of CICR (calcium-induced calcium release), they open when cytosolic Ca2+ concentration rises, acting kind of like IP3 receptors, since they’re on the ER as well. RyRs are/can be physically couled to L-type VGCCs as well.
