- AKA Bone gamma-carboxyglutamic acid-containing protein (BGLAP).
- Its synthesis is dependent on Vitamin K due to its GLA (Vitamin K-dependent carboxylation/gamma-carboxyglutamic) domains.
- Acts on Leydig cells to stimulate Testosterone biosynthesis.
- Essential part of the fight-or-flight response.
- Serum osteocalcin levels at 4 months of age were associated with neurodevelopment at 4 years of age in term-born children
