• Anti-obesity activity of the marine carotenoid fucoxanthin
  • Reduces plasma and hepatic triglyceride concentrations and cholesterol uptake in the liver via downregulating LDL Receptor and SR-B1 (scavenger receptor B1)
  • Decreases mRNA expression of FASN
  • Inhibits IRS-1 in adipocytes
  • Decreased mRNA expression of hepatic Acetyl-CoA carboxylase
  • Stimulates UCP1 in white adipose.
    • This is fascinating because it’s usually not found there unless there’s some kind of stimulation.
    • Promoted β3 adrenergic mRNA expression.
