FNBP1L (Formin-binding protein 1-like) #
- In humans, there’re 15 formins in 7 subgroups. Meanwhile, Formin-binding protein 1 contains “an N-terminal Fer/Cdc42-interacting protein 4 (CIP4) homology (FCH)”.
-
Childhood intelligence is heritable, highly polygenic and associated with FNBP1L (rs236330)
- Although no individual single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected with genome-wide significance, we show that the aggregate effects of common SNPs explain 22–46% of phenotypic variation in childhood intelligence in the three largest cohorts. FNBP1L, previously reported to be the most significantly associated gene for adult intelligence, was also significantly associated with childhood intelligence
- Binds to Cdc42 and N-WASP - promotes CDC42-induced actin polymerization by activating the N-WASP-WIP complex.

Capping Protein Insulates Arp2/3-Assembled Actin Patches from Formins
- CP serves to protect Arp2/3-nucleated structures from formin activity.
