Basal Ganglia #
- A group of various nuclei: mainly including the Striatum (dorsal: Caudate, Putamen; ventral: Nucleus Accumbens, olfactory tubercle), Globus Pallidus, ventral pallidum, Substantia Nigra, and the Subthalamic Nucleus.
- The globus pallidus and putamen comprise the Lentiform Nucleus. Strongly interconnected with the cerebral cortex, thalamus, brainstem, and others. Important for motor integration.
