Albumin #

A family of globular proteins. They are transport proteins which bind to various ligands and carry them around: water, catIons (thus Sodium for instance), fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, T4, and pharmeceuticals.

  • Serum albumin correlates significantly with Dietary Protein intake and content of hair root bulbs.
  • Most common/abundant protein in the blood responsible for maintaining plasma osmotic pressure. Insufficient osmotic pressure cuts down the supply of nutrients to cells and organs.
